how to: mixing prints & patterns >>>

My husband and I had this conversation the other day- as I was getting ready for church he commented on my outfit saying "that's cute, but it doesn't match". I responded by laughing a little and telling him things don't need to be matchy-matchy anymore- in fact I really don't like matchy-matchy.

Whether it's in fashion/style or you home/decor it is okay to mix patterns & prints! In fact, doing so shows off your own style sense and really brings you out in your home.

So how do you make it work? Set small patterns against large ones, limit your palette, and include one big solid like the sofa, floor or wall, in the scene. For example- an all neutral palette with a few different pattern/textures works beautifully without being too much for you if you have mixed feelings about this [no pun intended]

These are all beautiful and classic- some of us also gravitate towards those bolder, brighter, more eclectic looks. Just make sure you like love the combinations, since it's your living space[& your body]. I don't like "rules" when it comes to something as whimsical and eclectic as mixing colors, designs, patterns, etc.

start mixing, and as long as you love it- it works. Even your husband tells you it doesn't "match"......just keep doing what you're doing :)
